A friend of mine recently told me that she found a 2 year old bottle of refrigerated breastmilk at her house. When she analyzed it, the fat was separated from the watery milk portion. However, there was no gas indicating the presence of large amounts bacteria and no mold visible.

This is not surprising as human breastmilk contains many anti microbial proteins within it. Once sealed, the growth of microbes was minimal as perceived.

Breastmilk is a marvel.

The recommended time frame for the use of refrigerated breastmilk is 4 days.
